The Bursar Office is responsible for collection of past due accounts. Therefore, to be considered as an applicant, your bursar account must be in good standing with the university. This expectation applies to all applicants considered for employment and to maintain employment.
The Associate Bursar oversees maintaining student financial records including student billing, payments, receivables, refund processing and tracking charges on student accounts. Works closely with various departments such as Financial Aid, Fiscal Officers, University Accounting, Business Office, Registrar and others as needed. Assists the Bursar in day-to-day operations.
Oversees the collecting, accounting, and depositing for all funds due to and funds received by the University and the disbursement of certain funds in accordance with Oklahoma Statutes, University policies, and Federal regulations. Responsible for ensuring the Student Loan Management System and the Loan Disbursement Systems are in compliance with the U. S. Department of Education regulations, Federal Laws, Guarantee Agencies policies, State Statutes. Failure to keep the systems in compliance could mean the loss of millions of dollars in federal aid and a potential liability to the institution of several millions of dollars. Is accountable for the overall departmental operations, special projects, continued education and training, and other miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned.
Business/Accounting/Management
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)Five years of Higher Education Fiscal Experience; or
Seven years of Banking or Financial Institution Experience; or
Seven years of working with the Public in a Fiscal Position.
Desire experience in higher education in student accounts and/or student financial aid as well as proficiency in computer billing systems, preferably Banner and TouchNet systems. Progressive professional experience in financial management with demonstrated experience in higher education administration.
