The Bursar Office is responsible for collections of past due accounts. Therefore, to be considered as an applicant, your bursar account must be in good standing with the University. This policy applies to all applicants considered for employment.
Serve as liaison for Office of the Bursar by professionally assisting bursar account holders with questions via phone call, email or in person. Aptitude for computerized record keeping systems and analytical ability. Team oriented in carrying out tasks with co-workers. Perform other duties as assigned. Promotional opportunities may be available through established career development plan.
One year of clerical/customer service experience.
Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.
Must be able to: * Protect privacy and safeguard confidential information. * Understand and utilize proficiency in customer service, with excellent communication skills. * Maintain good interpersonal skills when working with others. * Demonstrate the capability to maintain the strictest confidentiality. * Apply problem-solving, research, analytical, and public relations skills. * Secure records safely to alleviate data breaches. * Work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment. * Cope with stress in a positive manner. * Critical thinking ability to process information quickly and accurately. * Able to work with little supervision and prioritize multiple tasks in a high-volume environment to meet deadlines. * Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. * Display professionalism and flexibility when working with others and in stressful situations. Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and ten key.
All employees must sign a Bursar Confidentiality Contract to ensure staff agree and are aware to comply with the ethical and legal responsibility to protect the privacy of students, prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and others, including obligations to protect and safeguard confidential information. Since this office is responsible for collections of past due accounts, all Bursar Office employee’s bursar accounts must be in good financial standing. Therefore, this policy applies to all successful applicants considered for employment.
Business/Accounting
Four years of clerical/customer service experience.
Higher Education experience, Bursar Office experience.
