Position Details:

• The successful candidate will join the finance team to provide financial services and complete financial related processes and tasks for multiple and specific units and departments as assigned.
• This individual will support the Team Manager and team to prepare and review Grant financial reports, Grant reconciliations, revenues analyses, expenses analyses, encumbrances analyses, and assist with Grant budget development for the departments they serve.
• The successful candidate will perform accounting functions including accounts payable, invoicing, purchasing, and budgeting for both Grant and Departmental accounts.
• This position will work with the department heads, faculty members, and staff on the status of grant accounts.
• The successful candidate will also work with other finance team staff as well as other Finance and Business Operations staff within the Division.
• Other duties as assigned.

Accountant I or II title placement will be decided upon at time of hire based on education and experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
  (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

• 12 months related experience in accounting/bookkeeping.

• Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, accounting standards, fund accounting principles, and federal and state regulations and the ability to apply knowledge in appropriate job responsibilities
  • Knowledge and practical application of generally accepted methods and practices related to accounting and finance activities
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to exercise great initiative independent judgment
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to analyze problems and formulate solutions
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English and prepare complex reports on deadline
  • Requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, alumni, advisory committee members and the public, using diplomacy, discretion, and independent judgment
  • Computer skills: Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word and Excel), in addition to e-mail and Internet

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics

• Five years’ job-related experience. Prior experience with the OSU Financial system preferred (Banner); work history shows progressively responsible financial positions. Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.

• Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  Extensive experience in accounting, business and/or finance, a high level of integrity, an ability to work well with others and strong interpersonal skills.
