About this Position

Are you detail-oriented and passionate about supporting effective financial operations? Oklahoma State University's Division of Agriculture is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our finance team within the Office of Finance and Business Operations. In this vital role, you’ll provide financial support to multiple departments across OSU Agriculture, ensuring GAAP accounting practices and regulatory compliance.

As a key member of our financial services team, your responsibilities will include closely monitoring budgets, expense tracking, timely oversight, and ensuring compliance with OSU, OSU Agriculture, and funding agency guidelines. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other finance professionals.

What You'll Do: 

  • Track and monitor departmental budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure all financial transactions align with institutional and sponsor policies.
  • Collaborate regularly with faculty, department staff, and finance colleagues.
  • Analyze and manage budgetary timeliness and account-code accuracy.
  • Support sound financial decision-making through accurate reporting and documentation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and a willingness to work collaboratively. The ability to identify problems, gather information sufficient to formulate solutions, and apply technical knowledge in solving problems is essential to success. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to compose written communications free from spelling or grammatical errors. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and dedication to follow action items through to completion. Ability and dedication to protecting confidential information and promoting a positive working environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
  • 2 Years of Accounting/Finance Experience Experience using Excel pivot tables for financial data
  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Working knowledge with OSU financial system (Banner) and Quickbooks.
