The Department of Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS) and the Center for Health Systems Innovation (CHSI) in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University invite applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. The position offers a flexible start date, but no later than the beginning of Fall 2027.

Based on Oklahoma State University’s main campus in Stillwater, the position will focus on health data analytics research within CHSI and work closely with faculty in the MSIS department.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

OSU’s MSIS Department has a unique blend of faculty, students and staff, delivering innovative academic programs at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level, producing impactful and high-quality research, and providing outstanding service to the profession, the university, the college and to the community. The Department has a long tradition of research and instructional programs in the data sciences. Faculty have published some of the top-cited research papers in decision support systems and business intelligence/data analytics history and continue this publishing excellence today.

With the mission of Transforming Rural and Native American Health, OSU CHSI focuses on applying healthcare analytics, information technology, AI, and other data-driven methods to reshape and reform rural healthcare delivery. CHSI leverages large-scale Oracle Health EHR data for healthcare analytics and AI development and its ROK-Net rural clinic network for the evaluation and deployment of innovative healthcare technologies in real-world settings.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The successful applicant should be a creative and effective researcher capable of contributing to CHSI and MSIS research, publications, and grant development activities. The fellow will support the development and implementation of processes and protocols for managing and maintaining the Oracle Health Real-World Data; assist with data integration, analysis, and quality assurance for new and existing sources of health-related data; and collaborate with healthcare organizations and other partners working with CHSI on research and innovation initiatives.

Required skills and qualifications include:

• Strong understanding of relational databases and Apache Spark; knowledge of NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in analytics programming languages, such as Python and R.
• Demonstrated experience with machine learning, deep learning, and large language models (LLMs).

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field and have an ongoing record of scholarly publications. At least two years of experience in healthcare data analytics and reporting is preferred. Knowledge of the healthcare industry and healthcare delivery environment is also preferred. Finally, the applicant should have an innovative mindset and be willing to support and participate in MSIS and CHSI initiatives as needed.

This is a one-year appointment which could be extended for up to two additional years. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.  Applicant screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.  All positions are contingent upon available funding.
