Work Schedule

Working hours include 20 hours a week depending on workload. Shift includes at least two to three shifts per week Tuesday and Thursday 1-7 PM and rotating Friday 8 AM – 5 PM/ Saturday shifts 9 AM – 5 PM: additional shifts as available

Appointment Length

12 months or less

Hiring Range

$15.00 - $16.88

About this Position

The customer service associate & library technical assistant has primary responsibility for providing our library users with an excellent library experience, technology check-out, material check-out and in-house computer assistance in person, online and on the phone.  Performs technical and physical library work in support of the library’s functions including shelving, shifting, cleaning, pulling materials, using automated library and network systems. Assists the library team in project and routine task work.  Provides public relations, informs users on library policy and services, and completes light housekeeping.  

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  •  1-3 years customer service experience or relevant library experience

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of customer service philosophies and principles.  
  • Knowledge of academic libraries and resources that provide information.
  • Knowledge of printers, computers and a variety of software adapting to changing technology. 
  • Ability to interpret user informational inquiries, to communicate clearly and appropriately both written and verbal, effective problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Evidence and skill in organizing and establishing priorities and trustworthiness in handling inventory and materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's
  • Some college preferred 
  • Library Experience and/or Knowledge or familiarity in circulation and the academic user experience.
