About this Position

The Executive Assistant will be expected to work under minimal supervision and within broad guidelines. This position is responsible for performing diverse and complex administrative functions. Assignments involve work of a confidential nature and requires the use of independent judgment and discretion. The Executive Assistant  must have the ability to communicate effectively with all level of employees; faculty, staff, administration, students and constituents on a local, regional and national level is priority.  They will also provide support to the Assistant Vice President of External Affairs and the Office of External Affairs. Given the nature of the required duties, this position is an in-person role for the department. 

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Three to five years' related experience with increasingly greater levels of responsibility in executive assistant capacity.
  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
    • Valid driver's license

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Specialized training such as may be obtained through a university or college degree, technical school degree, or business school major, with extensive on-the-job training involving increasingly more difficult and complex responsibilities.
  • Proficient use of computer is required for word processing, e-mail, note and meeting-minute taking, etc.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills, and must be able to maintain confidentiality.  
  • Must also be able to manage the day-to-day activities of a complex office environment with the AVP for External Affairs leading multiple directors and coordinators. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's
  • Prefer experience in higher education or corporate setting
