About this Position
Langston University's Department of Athletics is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for all athletic programs. The coach will maintain records of student-athlete progress and provide instruction on proper nutrition, conditioning, resistance training, mobility, and recovery techniques to support the holistic development of student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement strength and conditioning programs for all men's and women's athletic teams during in-season, off-season, and pre-season periods using research-driven practices.

Monitor and maintain the university weight room; ensure it is secure each night.

Maintain and track weight room inventory.

Collaborate with sports medicine/athletic training staff for rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.

Foster collaboration between strength and conditioning staff, athletic trainers, and sport coaches.

Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with university and department standards.

Track athlete attendance, engagement, and progress in conjunction with head coaches.

Establish and enforce conduct expectations consistent with university values.

Notify the Head Athletic Trainer promptly of any student-athlete injuries, pain, or related concerns.

Provide motivation, education, and hands-on coaching to support athlete performance and development.
Administrative & Compliance Duties:

Maintain accurate records and develop systems for monitoring individual and team progress.

Exhibit strong budgeting, organizational, and communication skills.

Demonstrate knowledge of NAIA regulations and ensure strength and conditioning practices comply with them.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's
-
Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
-
2–4 years of experience in strength and conditioning (collegiate level preferred).

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
-
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred; Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) preferred.

Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate strong organizational skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technology tools.

Independent problem-solving ability and a team-oriented mindset.

Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and travel to accommodate the needs of nine athletic programs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's

- 1–4 years of related experience, including 1–2 years as a head strength and conditioning coach.
