About this Position

Help us reach our audiences! The OSU Housing and Residential Life communications team is responsible for strategic communication and outreach efforts for incoming and current residents. This includes creating engaging content and executing a strategic communication plan for email, print, social media, web, events, and more. The ideal candidate will demonstrate self-direction, creativity, and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to communicate essential information concerning housing registration and residential policies. The position will work closely with the HRL Communications Coordinator to create deliverables in a manner that meets or exceeds federal and state accessibility standards. Training in accessibility practices is available. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in developing communication strategies to inform and engage students, families, and university stakeholders about housing registration, deadlines, policies and events.  

  • Create written and visual content for multiple platforms, including print, video, websites, electronic newsletters, text/email messages, and social media platforms.  

  • Assist in editing the department website.  

  • Assist in creating email and e-newsletter templates using customer relationship management platforms (CRM) such as Slate and the Cowboy Family Portal.  

  • Work with interns/student employees to coordinate social media efforts and maintain a complete content calendar 

  • Ensure OSU Brand Standards and campus communications protocols are followed.  

The work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, after-hours events may be required. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field 

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, including, but not limited to social media, video, web, writing, editing, and content creation. Related work experience in general communications, social media management, website editing, content creation, video editing, graphic design, publishing and campaign implementation and planning. 

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Valid driver's license 

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, have an understanding of graphic design and the ability to organize materials, write, edit, visualize concepts, communicate and interpret goals.

    Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.
