About this Position

As a senior member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions communications team, this position will support the university’s enrollment management goals by leading communication, marketing and outreach efforts to prospective students and their families, high school and college counselors and other internal and external audiences through emails and text messages. This requires planning and implementing strategic email and text message campaigns that align with the team’s direct mail, web, video, digital advertising and social media strategies and campaigns, as well as OSU’s overarching brand. Primary objectives include project management, outlining population segments in line with communications plans for the recruitment cycle, assigning projects to a team of communications specialists, editing, writing and ensuring quality control for email and text projects. This role requires extensive attention to detail and interpersonal skills needed to manage and coach a team of communications specialists who are responsible for creating dynamic, engaging prospective student content. This role will contribute to strategic planning, including analyzing CRM data and staying up-to-date on communications best practices for prospective students; ensure copy and design align with Brand Management standards; lead copy writing within the communications team and campus partners; coach direct reports to success; assist in executing social media campaigns; provide leadership in carrying out special initiatives and other duties as assigned by the leadership team. In addition to project management, supervisory responsibilities include assisting and providing guidance in the training of new staff members and conducting ongoing training and professional development for existing staff members.  Position may be eligible for remote or hybrid work schedule; however, any offer is contingent upon approval by University Human Resources in consideration of OSU policies, labor laws, and suitability to the work of the position/department. If remote work is approved, employee may not have an office on campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Business field

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Six months of experience in publications, news media or another closely related field. Demonstrated experience in communications and/or marketing, including, but not limited to, writing, editing, social media, video, website and content creation. Demonstrated project management and leadership/staff management experience.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal. Ability to organize, manage and execute projects on strict deadlines with excellent attention to detail, experience using a project management system preferred. Strong technical writing skills and experience writing engaging marketing content using Associated Press style. Understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) technology, preferably within a higher education setting. Demonstrated experience leading multi-channel marketing strategies and training colleagues on best practices and use of marketing platforms. Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal. Experienced with email marketing campaigns. Ability to organize, manage, and execute projects on strict deadlines with excellent attention to detail. Experience using a project management system is preferred. Strong technical writing skills and experience writing engaging marketing content using the Associated Press style. Experience with website editing (Omni Update platform preferred). Understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) technology, preferably within a higher education setting. Demonstrated experience leading multi-channel marketing strategies and training colleagues on best practices and use of marketing platforms.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Relevant experience within a higher education setting. Work within a project management system. Ability to use HTML and CSS to build and optimize emails for accessibility, cross-client compatibility, and consistent rendering across major email platforms (including Outlook, Gmail, and mobile clients). Experience using data to inform segmentation strategy of target audiences. Demonstrated graphic design experience and familiarity with Adobe Suite products. Knowledgeable in advertising layout and design.
