About this Position
The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Chief of Police. Additionally, captains may assign job duties on projects as they arise. This position is responsible for all the administrative duties of the Police Department. The Administrative Assistant must provide excellent customer services and clerical support to department staff, use computer programs including, but not limited to, OSU Banner System, AIRS, OK Corral, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook to assist in the administrative duties of the office, route mail and callers, organize, maintain and update confidential filing systems, and prepare travel requests. Maintains job descriptions, job postings, new hire paperwork, payroll forms, and employee action forms. Maintain thorough knowledge of OSU policies and procedures and maintain all office records. Assists with an array of departmental reports and publications. Responsible for department financial activities, reconciliation reports, accounts receivable/payable, requisitions, contracts, and revenue/expenditure transactions using OK Corral, P-Card, and additional forms.
Required Qualifications
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Five years of administrative support experience. Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
OSU Administrative Professionals Program within two years of employment.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Ability to accomplish tasks without supervision; organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interact with people effectively, service-oriented attitude, computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures, ability to remain calm and to take proper actions under emergency conditions, proficient in the OSU Banner System, and must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
