About this Position

This position is part of the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) Business Office. The major role of this position is to assist with the financial administration of departmental, sponsored awards, and foundation funds. In doing so, you will assist with organization, management, and reporting of financial activity. You will work with your supervisor to provide accurate financial statements for various departments. Other duties will be to assist with the creation of corrective paperwork, employee action requests, billing, requisitions, data entry, and monthly reconciliation. You will also attend Business Office Staff Meetings, serve as a backup to the business office team, and ensure that all financial activities are in accordance with federal, state, university, college, and sponsor policies and procedures. It is important that the incumbent in this position is able to effectively manage their time, maintain organization of their assignments, provide excellent customer service to our customers, and be team oriented.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Accounting Specialist - Two years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping.

    Senior Accounting Specialist - Three years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping.

    Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience. 

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices related to accounting/bookkeeping activities. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously. Strong problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and performing under tight deadlines. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field

  • At least one year of professional accounting or related finance experience.
