About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Primary duty is to enforce the laws of the state of Oklahoma and the rules and regulations of the campus of OSU Institute of Technology. 

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Proven history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Two years’ documented experience as a peace officer in a university setting preferred.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Law enforcement certification by Council on Law Enforcement and Training (CLEET); or must be obtained following hire.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • NIMS (Homeland Security).
  • CPR training.
  • Must meet annual training/qualification standards for firearms as well as CLEET continuing education hours.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have good reputable character with no criminal record.
  • Must have good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass the OLERS physical examination.
  • Must have full sensory perception, mental ability, physical capability and psychomotor skills.
  • Current computer skills to include MS applications and database systems.

Communication Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (and publicly) with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited college or university highly preferred. 
  • FT Peach Officer CLEET certification.
