Located at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation, Tahlequah, OK, the Student Counselor is primarily responsible for providing a wide array of counseling services to students and residents, via individual group, marital/couples formats or educational programming. This position will build community relations, implement therapy programs and services, and provide reporting regarding student engagement of services.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide personal counseling services to students and residents via individual, group, and marital/couples formats, which include crisis intervention, psychotherapeutic, situational, relational, and developmental counseling
Implement theory and evidence-based therapy programs and services
Create and participate in educational programming to improve resilience and mental health
Utilize technology as appropriate for off-site students and trainees
Build community relations with the efforts of establishing a referral platform
Provide statistical reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Life regarding student engagement of services
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, or closely related mental health field required. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in counseling or in a mental health setting
Experience facilitating individual counseling with clients is required.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in developing, teaching, and presenting behavioral health related classes and activity based workshops

Background in working with college population
Ability to empathize with diverse clients
