About this Position
The Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach lower-division courses, including Introductory Chemistry, General Chemistry I & II laboratory/lecture support (as needed), Physics, and Physical Science for non-majors. Candidates with a Master’s degree will be considered for lower-division teaching assignments. Applicants holding a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline may also be eligible to teach upper-division coursework based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities
- Teach assigned undergraduate courses in Chemistry and/or Physical Science.
- Prepare and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, assessments, and laboratory activities (where applicable).
- Maintain consistent communication with students and provide timely feedback on assignments and exams.
- Hold office hours (virtual or in-person) for student support.
- Follow departmental and university guidelines regarding instruction, assessment, and academic policies.
- Collaborate with full-time faculty as needed to ensure instructional consistency across sections.
Required Qualifications
- Master's
- Master's degree in chemistry, Chemistry Education, Physics, Physical Science, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach at the undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and student success
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Preferred Qualification
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline (required for teaching upper-division coursework).
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
- Experience teaching non-majors and/or introductory STEM courses.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating the success of students from diverse backgrounds.
