About this Position

Coordination and Management of the OSU Sustainability Program to include development, implementation, administration, documentation, and communication of comprehensive campus-wide programs that promote sustainability (i.e., resource conservation, recycling, and waste reduction). Coordinate and interact with campus departments that have existing environmental initiatives to enhance those efforts and to share ideas regarding successful initiatives across campus.

Serve as the Public Relations point of contact and work with the Brand Management office, as well as other sustainability venues, to increase awareness of OSU's sustainability initiatives through various media. Position interacts with the campus and off-campus public during the normal course of business.

Work may be required outside of normal office hours as needed. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment when needed and as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use. Required to work safely and promote a safe environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    A bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, communications or a related field. 

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Five years of related experience with implementing environmental or sustainability programs.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Must have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Ability to motivate student, staff, and faculty groups and individuals to develop, promote, and integrate sustainability programming into their activities. Working knowledge of programs, strategies, and technologies to reduce Oklahoma State University's impact on the environment. Management of environmental programs and systems. Good communication skills, including technical writing. Excellent organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work. Proficiency with presentation skills and Microsoft software. Self-directed performer with the ability to motivate others in various parts of the organization toward improving program performance. Demonstrated strong leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's

    Natural Resources, Environmental Policy, or related field

  • In addition to experience required, experience with AASHE STARS reporting and managing sustainability initiatives, preferably in a higher education setting. 

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and engage in public speaking is important. The incumbent must be able to work independently, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and show initiative
