About this Position

The communications specialist supports the College of Veterinary Medicine and its teaching veterinary hospital by developing, managing and elevating strategic communication efforts across digital and print channels. This role focuses on website content development and maintenance, email communication strategy and execution, editorial storytelling, social media coordination and multimedia production. The ideal candidate combines strong writing and digital skills with an ability to collaborate across teams to support the college’s mission, reputation and engagement goals.

They work closely with other staff in the college to promote and CVM within the OSU community, state, region and country.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, ag communications or related field.

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

  • Demonstrated work experience in content creation, editing, publishing and campaign implementation or planning. Experience in writing, reporting, AP style writing, copy editing, digital storytelling, media relations or related skills.

    Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience.

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Oklahoma driver’s license or ability to obtain an Oklahoma driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties.  Reimbursement for official travel.

    Duty reporting is in-person on the OSU campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Demonstrated experience in communications, including, but not limited to social media, video, web, writing, editing, and content creation. Related work experience in general communications, social media management, website editing, content creation, video editing, graphic design, publishing and campaign implementation and planning.

    Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to organize materials, write, edit, visualize concepts, communicate and interpret goals, including demonstrated proficiency in the use of AP style and adaptive writing. Social media experience required. Knowledge of communications and ability to align content with audience needs. Must learn quickly and adapt to quickly changing environment
