About this Position

The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) IT Director leads the strategic direction and focus, developing short and long-term strategies for core CVM technology resources to enhance and deliver educational and administrative functions of the CVM. This position will manage the delivery of comprehensive technology support services and operations, including supervision of user and classroom support, software, and CVM software engineering efforts. Additional responsibilities including managing expenditures, budget, and licensing. Serves as a technical resource for software/hardware acquisition. The IT Director implements, manages, and maintains the CVM's IT infrastructure, ensuring effective resource utilization, system reliability, and security. Responds to critical failures 24/7. Engages in a program of continuous learning. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to enhancing the technological capabilities of the CVM and OSU as a whole.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Information Technology or related field.

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Five years related work experience in information technology or related field. Post-secondary education may be substituted for years or experience 

    Must be eligible for employment in areas governed by the U.S. Patriot Act and the Public Health and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, 42 CFR 73, 7 CFR 331, and 9 CFR 121. Consequently, the individual hired for this position must successfully complete a Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation (DOJ/FBI) security risk assessment as well as the background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's

    IT or related field

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    CISSP, VMware, Windows

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Strong background in information technology and its use in a professional or academic environment. Knowledge of IT solution design and development technologies, techniques, and best practices. Ability to lead and manage a team. Proficient in project management processes and practices. Ability to manage outside vendors and subcontractors. Highly organized, ability to set and maintain schedules, excellent writing skills, excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, attention to details, planner, ability to delegate, ability to supervise, time management, ability to coach, respectful, condent, know how to take command, know how to make decisions, managerial courage, know how to face problems, ability to influence and guide a group toward a common goal, empathy, action/solution-oriented, productive/results-oriented, continuous learner.
