About this Position
Responsible for performing interrogation, interpretation, and programming specific to CIEDs, Remote CIED monitoring and initial interpretation of results, ambulatory cardiac monitoring, and all related EKG services. Responsible for report generation and advising physicians of significant abnormalities.
The Cardiac Device Specialist responsibilities are:
Coordinates daily functions of the cardiac device clinic.
Performs CIED interrogations on patients and reprograms devices, as needed.
Educates patients and provides follow-up reminders on device checks according to established protocols.
Collaborates with physicians and or Mid-level providers regarding the device status as it affects the total treatment plan.
Maintains necessary records and documentation in patients’ EMR.
Performs device clinic duties, utilizing specific knowledge in applying event monitors /MCOT/ Holter monitors.
Completes appropriate steps to order event/Holter/MCOT monitors in EMR system.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of monitoring options for physicians.
Compose reports and tasks to physicians or mid-level provider for review in EMR.
Submits charges for billing.
Schedules appointments for device patients and corresponds with patients regarding any missed appointments or other matters.
Demonstrates positive and competent customer service through effective patient education and care.
Documents all patient contact in EMR.
Ensures patient confidentiality.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Performs other assigned duties as directed by supervisor based on demonstrated competency.
Required Qualifications
Vocational/Technical
Cardiac Device Specialist
This position requires experience in interrogation, interpretation, and programing CIEDs (Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices) including Pacemakers, Cardiac Defibrillators, and Implanted Loop Recorders.
Experience with analysis of Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic remote device transmissions.
Ambulatory cardiac monitoring (MCOT, Holter) and all related EKG services.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid Driver's License required.
Valid CPR certification
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Computer/typing skills and proficiency in Electronic Medical Records software, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and other programs
Possess strong cardiac device knowledge and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Able to create device transmission reports that capture all relevant data.
Experience with interrogation, interpretation, and programming of Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic CIEDs.
Experience with analysis of Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic remote device transmissions.
Strong patient education skills
Capable of working independently and demonstrating self-motivation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent leadership and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer two (2) years of experience in CIED interrogation, Interpretation, and programming
Prefer two (2) years of CIED remote monitoring experience
Prefer one (1) year of ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring experience (MCOT, Holter).
