ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY
STILLWATER CAMPUS
The Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS) Department in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position slated to begin in Fall 2026. The position is on the Stillwater campus. Departmental faculty, such as this position, are in both Stillwater and Tulsa and can teach classes in both locations (as well as on-line as appropriate).
OSU’s MSIS Department has a unique blend of faculty, students and staff, delivering innovative academic programs at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level, producing impactful and high-quality research, and providing outstanding service to the profession, the university, the college and the community.
The Department has a long tradition of research and instructional program excellence in MIS, Cybersecurity, and Data Science. The Department also partners with OSU’s Center for Health Sciences and the Center of Health Systems Innovation in delivering graduate programs and certificates, and conducting applied research, in health informatics and health care analytics.
The Department remains a national leader in Information Assurance (IA), having been previously designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in IA Education (CAE/IAE) and Research (CAE-R) by the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security and maintaining its status as an Education Partner with the NSA and its STEM programs.
Degree programs administered in the department include the BSBA in MIS, with options in Data Science, as well as Information Assurance, a BSBA in Data Analytics, a Masters in MIS, a thriving doctoral program, and several certificate programs including Supply Chain Management (in conjunction with the School of Marketing). Three large enrollment core business classes in the Spears School are taught by MSIS faculty. Faculty also support the MBA program, the M.S. in Accounting programs, and the interdisciplinary college level M.S. in Business Analytics and Data Science program.
While applicants with all areas of MIS expertise are welcomed, preference will be given to candidates who can teach large, business core classes in information systems and/or data science, and those with a strong background in cybersecurity. Technical versatility is a plus. The preferred applicant should be engaged in impactful research with aspirations of publishing in top journals in MIS, Data Science and/or Cybersecurity. Finally, applicants should have an innovative mindset and be willing to support and participate in departmental initiatives as needed.
To be considered for the position, the preferred applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in MIS or related area from an AACSB-accredited university. Those close to finishing their degree (e.g., ABD status) will also be considered. Applicant screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The position is contingent upon available funding.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and academic qualifications. The appointment is a tenure-track position and the normal personnel process of the SSB and OSU applies.
