Responsible for daily coordination and implementation of care, reproduction, and nutritional programs for the livestock and forage management at the Bluestem Range and Wheat Pasture Unit, in collaboration with the Sr. Herd Manager. Responsible for managing the inventory, deployment, and maintenance of precision livestock technology equipment for the department. Responsible for maintaining and improving facilities, maintaining general cleanliness and desirable appearance of all facilities and grounds. Assist with collection of research samples as needed. Will supervise student employees.

Knowledge/experience in beef cattle management and handling, knowledge of forage production and supplement feeding. Knowledge of livestock technology.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid Driver's License
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Excellent computer skills, record keeping skills and organizational skills. Must be dependable and work both independently and with others, ability to meet the public, must be a skilled with livestock and possess skills to handle cattle, identify and treat sick cattle and keep accurate records, must be capable of operating farm equipment and must be able to lift at least 100 pounds. Must be able to effectively maintain digital livestock technology such as electronic ear tags, virtual fence collars, scales, etc.
This is an exempt position (which indicates that the position is exempt from overtime pay/comp). According to OSU policy, a 40-hour work week is considered minimal for exempt staff and you are expected to work hours in excess of 40 hours per week when the work load requires additional hours (to include some early mornings, some evenings and one weekend per month) to check/care for animals. Work in Oklahoma environment -- heat, cold, rain, wind, etc. Will be driving university vehicles to and from the Animal Science building to Bluestem Research Range and other research locations. Most travel will be in-state with an occasional out-of-state trip.
Heavy farm equipment and livestock
Must be able to consistently lift a minimum of 100 pounds.
