About this Position

The Adjunct Faculty of the Radiologic Technology program is responsible for helping coordinate clinical, lab, and didactic education as assigned by the program director and to develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn the subject matter presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community. The adjunct faculty must evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of the clinical affiliates. The faculty member will also teach as an instructor in specified classes and labs in the Radiologic Technology Program.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program or University. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Minimum of two years, full-time experience as a registered radiologic technologist.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Must possess a valid registry with the American Registry for Radiologic technologists (ARRT) in:
  • Radiography (R)
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license for travel in state to clinical rotation sites

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Teaching Competence – Must be able to create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; have the ability to assess student learning and progress.
  • Communication skills – Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English. Requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
  • Professional skills- Must adhere to nationally acceptable radiographic standards of theory, procedure, protocol, and ethics. Must demonstrate proficiency with various radiology equipment and models. Must have the ability to evaluate x-rays in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information and have the ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic radiology information in each examination performed.
  • Computer skills – Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as e-mail and Internet.
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Additional certifications are a plus

Essential Job Functions:

  1. This position must meet HLC accreditation standards.
  2. Coordinates clinical and or lab learning experiences; including coordination of preceptors and clinical affiliates
    1. Manages the clinical, lab, and classroom components of program including assignments and documentation
    2. Helps establish and maintain a master plan of clinical and or lab rotations for students
  3. Prepares, presents, and evaluates didactic, laboratory, and clinical content in radiologic technology.
  4. Maintains student and course records according to university and accreditation (HLC) standards.
  5. Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
  6. Prepares candidates for the national registry exams while seeking to achieve pass rates above the state and national average.
  7. Reviews, maintains, and evaluates clinical, lab and classroom curriculum.
  8. Conducts Clinical and site visits per industry standards.
  9. Assists with clinical affiliate contracts and upkeep.
  10. Maintains documented, current student immunization records and/or required clinical and lab safety records (NESA) for the clinical and lab portions of the program.
  11. Assists the Program Director/Department Head in developing, reviewing, and updating the clinical, lab, and didactic educational objectives and competencies.
  12. Actively engages in retention activities including effective communication, with both students and the Program Director/Department Head, regarding student attendance and overall individual clinical, lab, and classroom progress.
  13. Remains current with theory and practice in the profession.
  14. Participates in an active advisory board for degree program.
  15. Follows radiation safety guidelines and protocols.
  16. Maintains current course schedules, outlines, objectives, and grading procedures for assigned courses.
  17. Alerts the Program Director/Department Head of any illegal and/or unethical behavior concerning a student or students.
  18. Provides annual documentation of continuing medical educational (CME) professional growth, as necessitated by the associated national registering agency (ARRT) biennium requirement.
  19. Completes all mandatory training.
  20. Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.
  • Work will be performed in an office and classroom environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
  • May be exposed to prolonged periods of time in a dim or darkly-lit room.
  • May be exposed to radiation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
  • Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
  • Must be able to move the imaging and lab equipment without assistance.
