About this Position

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination and daily operations of the University Store's warehouse to include managing the receipt of approximately $10 million in inbound merchandise annually, ensuring accurate check-in procedures and working with the various store departments regarding merchandise distribution. This position will be tasked with ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse operations with a strong emphasis on accuracy, safety and communication. Key responsibilities will include overseeing the receiving processes; maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment; and supervising both full-time and part-time warehouse staff. Extended hours may be required during peak times of the year including start of each semester and athletic gamedays. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with extended periods of physical activity is required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Two years experience in a college bookstore or large retail store with prior warehouse and/or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Post-secondary education may be substituted for years of experience

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Valid driver's license

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
    • Strong computer skills with ability to quickly learn new software.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate information concisely, clearly and accurately.
    • Ability to read, interpret and apply written instructions, policies and procedures to daily work.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Dependable with strong follow-through and task completion.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Willingness to take initiative and problem-solve.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's
  • Four years experience in a college bookstore or large retail store with prior warehouse and/or supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
    • Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) and back-end retail systems.
    • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks).
    • Experience with merchandise receiving, tagging and labeling procedures.
    • Understanding of freight handling, including shipment verification and damage inspection.
    • Competency in cycle counting and conducting full inventory audits.
    • Knowledge of loss prevention best practices.
    • Ability to interpret and act on packing slips, invoices and shipping documentation.
    • Strong data entry and recordkeeping skills.
