Visiting Assistant Professor, Counseling and Counseling Psychology Program

POSITION: The College of Education and Human Sciences, School of Community Health Sciences, Counseling and Counseling Psychology, is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Counseling and Counseling Psychology. This is a full-time, nine (9) month position with an anticipated start date of January 12 , 2026. We seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to training and supporting success through their instruction, research, and service responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach graduate courses in Counseling and Counseling Psychology on the Stillwater campus

Provide clinical supervision for Counseling and Counseling Psychology students.

Serve as a mentor for our students

Provide service in the School and College

Other duties may be assigned by the School Head.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctoral degree in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or related field

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed or license-eligible (pending state-specific requirements) as a school counselor, licensed professional counselor, or psychologist in the State of Oklahoma

Successful college/university teaching experience

Experience supervising practicum and internship students

Experience or training in working within CACREP and/or APA-accredited programs

Successful research experience evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations

GENERAL INFORMATION:

About the Counseling and Counseling Psychology Area: The Counseling and Counseling Psychology area is a dynamic program area with strong support from the College of Education and Human Sciences. The Counseling and Counseling Psychology area includes options in mental health counseling and school counseling at the master’s level and counseling psychology at the doctoral level. Our master’s programs offer courses both in Stillwater and in Tulsa and are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Our counseling psychology doctoral program, based in Stillwater, is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

 

Our area offers unique teaching, research, and outreach opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, including Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Educational Psychology, K-12 education faculty, and the McNair Scholars program on campus. In the community, there are opportunities to work with underserved populations and both rural-based and urban populations in and around Stillwater and nearby Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Counseling and Counseling Psychology programs have strong local connections to school systems and community-based agencies, and a strong commitment to supporting the success and well-being of individuals, families, schools, and communities.
