The Stock Clerk is responsible for coordinating the proper storage (FIFO), rotation, and distribution of food and supply orders. This position supports daily dish room operations and maintains high standards of safety, sanitation, organization, and cleanliness in receiving, storage, and other assigned areas to uphold the image of University Dining Services. The Stock ensures inventory is properly rotated, delivered, and picked up as needed to support dining units.

This role may assist in other areas and perform additional duties based on unit goals and operational priorities. This is a full-time position with a schedule determined by the unit’s hours of operation, which may include occasional weekends. Limited or no hours may be scheduled from mid-May through mid-August unless additional work is available. The position requires regular physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • No Degree (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Stock Clerk I- No experience required.

    Stock Clerk II- Two years of prior successful work experience.

    Stock Clerk III- Three years of experience while working independently with a lot of autonomy in decision-making.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Must possess a valid driver’s license prior to hire and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment. A valid driver’s license is required to operate an OSU vehicle in the performance of assigned job duties. Acquire ServSafe certification after hire.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and organize work for the most efficient outcomes. Ability to operate equipment appropriate to the position and to know and practice basic safety and sanitation standards. Maintain a neat and clean appearance and demonstrate good manual dexterity. Ability to stand, walk, and work on one’s feet for up to eight hours per day.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School/GED
  • Experience in customer services and/or working with an inventory system, sanitation and hygiene.
