About this Position

Plan and carry out daily work and record-keeping activities associated with conducting cattle research on wheat pasture and native grass pastures. Provide daily care and management of the cattle in accordance with good husbandry practices and approved experimental procedures. Provide day-to-day management of land and facilities to ensure functionality. Assist in collection of experimental data. Evaluate and provide for farm facility and equipment maintenance, repair and improvement. Provide necessary and timely communications with project director(s), departmental and university personnel, graduate and undergraduate students, and external contractors as needed to ensure successful completion of research. Provide supervision and scheduling of staff and undergraduate student labor to ensure a positive work environment, successful accomplishment of research objectives, and maximum work efficiencies.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Animal Science or related field
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

5 years' related work experience in working with cattle

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid driver's license. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Familiar with equipment, tools, etc., used in routine upkeep of facilities. Familiar with handling cattle effectively. Good communication skills and effective listening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's in Animal Science or related field

Employer has a preference for individuals experienced in using horses and/or stock dogs to handle cattle effectively. Employer has a preference for individuals with experience in basic mechanical skills, basic welding skills, maintenance, and repairs.
