Responsible for total oversight and management of the Cline Equine Teaching Center to facilitate availability of horses for classwork and other educational activities. Assist with teaching animal science class laboratory sections, coordinate proper feeding and management of horses including vaccinations, deworming, farrier work and other medical management, supervise the daily care of animals, maintain appearance and maintenance of facilities and equipment, assist in maintaining sound fiscal management and financial responsibilities of the operation, including a positive cash flow and positive fiscal year end (June 30) balances; (a) maintain extensive detailed records needed for registering purebred horses and preparation of information for sale catalogs, (b) submit registration paperwork to breed associations to register horses, and (c) prepare write-ups, photos, and videos for consignment sales. Assist in selection and breeding of mares and stallions to maintain a purebred herd. Solicit donated breedings for broodmare herd and reproductively manage broodmares onsite in conjunction with theriogenologists. Responsible for marketing of horses in an online consignment platform with heavy emphasis on social media marketing. Assist in facilitating recruitment and retention of students interested in horses. Maintain good public relations by attending and/or being involved with equine events in Oklahoma and surrounding states.
Conduct numerous tours for groups and individuals. Assist in instructing laboratory sections for introductory animal science courses, animal handling, and equine science classes. Serve as an instructor for ANSI 3402 – Equine Training Methods, ANSI 3633 – Equine Sales Preparation and ANSI 3643 – Equine Breeding and Foaling.
Assist in conducting/teaching state level youth camps, clinics and judging contests. Build and maintain relationships with equine professionals including ranches, donors, sponsors, and alumni. Assist with grant writing to meet needs for outside support and/or equipment for the Equine Center.
