About this Position

Responsible for administration of the Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and summer camp programs. This includes supervision of one full-time staff member and three Graduate Assistants. Oversight of league scheduling, playoffs, and tournaments through scheduling software. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, firing, training, and evaluation of student officials, check-in staff, and supervisors. Serve as the liaison sport clubs as assigned by the Assistant Director. Manage summer camp program to include planning, budget creation and management, recruitment, hiring and training of staff, registration, and implementation. Additional involvement and responsibilities within Department of Wellness as assigned. The position will require some night, and weekend hours as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Leisure Studies, Recreation Management, or related field

    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Four years of professional experience facilitating sport and league programing.

    A completed two-year Graduate Assistantship will be considered one year of professional experience.

Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, working knowledge of league scheduling software and related staff training. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong commitment to teamwork. Demonstrated background in the training of sports officials. Familiarity with youth camp programming. Required CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor within the first six months of hire. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's
  • Three or more years of experience working in the administration of a college competitive sports (intramural & club sports) program.

  • Experience with children in a camp setting.

  • Experience working with Graduate Assistants and supervising students.
