About this Position

This role involves working under direct or close supervision to execute routine post-award grant and contract procedures. This includes interfacing with faculty members to ensure adherence to post-award processes and procedures. The primary responsibility is to support faculty in the financial and compliance management of both externally and internally funded awards. Acting as a liaison between faculty and various university offices, individuals in this role work under the mentorship of senior staff to oversee award management. They consistently provide comprehensive information to Principal Investigators and departmental staff and collaborate with administrative staff on post-award grant management tasks for assigned PIs and departments. They will begin to learn procedures for managing the billing cash management of their given portfolio, the coordination of effort reporting, and other more complex aspects of grant/research administration. Individuals in this role will gradually operate with less guidance and demonstrate increased technical competence within established parameters. 

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED
  • At least 6 months of grant accounting experience. Post Secondary Education experience can be substituted for experience. 

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Valid Driver's License

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Skilled in accounting, reconciliations, grant or other business administration, billing, and/or financial analysis. 
  • Strong communication skills. Intermediate or above Excel and Word skills.   
  • Must work independently and proactively while also being an effective team member.
  • Must possess the ability to work on several projects simultaneously and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's

    Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, or other closely related field.

  • Prefer experience in grants/contracts/accounting in a higher education setting.  Banner experience preferred.
