Position Title: Desktop Support Specialist – OSU Agriculture

Your expertise will help keep our computer and printing systems running smoothly, supporting the important work we do in education, research, and outreach.

This position is responsible for desktop computer support for administrators, faculty, and staff in the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. These responsibilities include the maintenance and management of computers and printers in offices, classrooms and computer labs. It is incumbent upon the person hired for this position to have a high degree of general technical abilities, adaptability, organizational abilities and proficiency in both written and verbal communication. Other responsibilities include maintaining computer asset inventory, generating quotes, equipment acquisition, disposal of obsolete equipment according to university procedures and training of departmental users in various aspects of computer technology and software.

Four years of related experience.
Experience and working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Mac OS and a working knowledge of a Windows Active Directory and Group Policies. Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software failure analysis and problem remediation. Proficient knowledge of computer hardware and driver installation, printer and scanner hardware configuration, driver installation, mapping, repair and maintenance. Knowledge of non-server based backup systems, WIFI systems, information security practices and security threats, malware and malware protection, antivirus, firewalls, user training. Ability to assist faculty and staff in computer hardware and software purchases or procurement while making decisions based on cost efficiency, functionality, and long-term use. Ability to teach and instruct faculty and staff in basic computer and software usage.
A minimum of two years related experience.
ITIL, CompTia A+ Certified Computer Technician, CompTia Network+ Certification, or similar
