
Open-Rank Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty
Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater, Oklahoma, is inviting highly motivated and qualified candidates to apply for one open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). The positions available can be filled at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. The focus areas are in Computer Engineering (encompassing computer architecture, machine learning, neural networks, embedded systems, software engineering, edge computing, cybersecurity, quantum computing, IoT, and VLSI design). Outstanding candidates in other areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) currently has 22 faculty members, approximately 460 undergraduate students, and 80 graduate students. ECE research advances intelligent, connected, and resilient engineering systems across AI, communications, sensing, computing, control, energy, and electronics. Major research strengths include AI, machine learning, and signal processing; robotics, autonomous systems, and intelligent control; wireless communications, RF/microwave, radar, and terahertz technologies; photonics, biomedical optics, and advanced sensing; power systems, renewable energy, smart grids, and resilient infrastructure; and microelectronics, semiconductor devices, embedded systems, and intelligent computing hardware. Across these research thrusts, AI, cybersecurity, advanced sensing, and cyber-physical systems provide strong interdisciplinary connections, enabling impactful applications in healthcare, aerospace, energy, transportation, defense, and next-generation communications. ECE faculty currently manage nearly $20 million in externally funded research grants, with annual research expenditures exceeding $2 million.
The School of ECE offers B.S., M.S., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering with an option in Software Engineering. ECE also participates in a new interdisciplinary M.S. in Artificial Intelligence program with multiple tracks, including Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CpE), and Healthcare Administration (HCA). ECE’s baccalaureate programs are ABET accredited.
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related engineering field. Successful candidates will be expected to teach electrical and computer engineering courses; develop an externally funded, internationally recognized research program; demonstrate excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching; advise graduate students; and contribute service to ECE and the profession. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively are expected. Engineering experience in industry or government laboratories is desirable but not required. Candidates who can effectively utilize, share, leverage, and further develop existing ECE resources are particularly encouraged to apply.
