About this Position
Assist the Occupational Safety Program Manager in managing oversight of all construction activities on campus. This will entail reviewing construction plans, assist in establishing site safety plans, daily construction site visits, and reviewing training documentation. This applies to internal construction projects and well as contractor construction activities on campus. This position will also be required to inspect personal protective equipment and machinery for compliance with required regulations. Investigation of accidents to determine the root cause will be a primary function of this role. This position will assist in leading the team in developing and executing health and safety plans at OSU according to legal guidelines.

Regular exposure to physically demanding and hazardous tasks including walking for long periods of time, bending, stopping, lifting, standing, reaching and climbing stairs/ladders. Must pass post-offer physical exam and be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment.
Must be able to lift in excess of 30 pounds. Working conditions range from clean to dirty atmospheres under all types of conditions and weather.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Safety or related field.(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Three years working as a safety professional in construction, industrial or educational setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express ideas effectively through public speaking.
Strong time management, organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Certification from American Red Cross or American Health Association to conduct training in first aid, adult-child-infant CPR and AED (or obtained within the first 6 months of employment); and 24-hour HAZWOPER training.
Valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Ability to communicate well (verbally and written) with good report writing skills.
Knowledge in the field of safety, risk management, accident prevention and OSHA regulations.
Skills to coordinate and conduct safety training for all employees in the OSU system.
Ability to work with a variety of backgrounds at all levels within the University.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Computer skills to include operation and utilization of various software programs to include MS office.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Safety or related field
More than three years of related experience in a college or university setting. Experience creating and delivering OSHA safety programs and construction reviews.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association to conduct training in first aid, adult-child-infant CPR and AED.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
