$ 24 - $26 Hourly

About this Position

The Mechanical Journeyman position is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and operating all types of mechanical systems and equipment including but not limited to: split systems, mini splits, fan coil units, unit heaters and package units, all 25 tons or less. 

This position will have the ability to repair or replace split systems, mini splits, unit heaters, package units and duct work and will also be able to troubleshoot electrical mechanical circuits. This position will also repair and maintain all types of motors and motor controllers including: bearings, seals and motor leads, end bells and shafts, variable speed motor drives, and troubleshooting motors.  

Perform other assigned duties related to operations, maintenance and renovations to buildings and equipment such as preventive maintenance; light duty carpentry, painting, electrical, and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities; and respond to emergency and urgent work.  

Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.) 
 
Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and when the University is closed.  

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Three (3) years of prior successful mechanical work experience

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Have before, and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license.
  • Must have an unlimited Mechanical journeyman license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical
  • Five (5) years of prior, successful maintenance work experience involving motor repair, split systems, package units, unit heaters and fan coils
