About this Position

The Receiving/Necropsy Lab Supervisor is responsible for oversight and assisting with management of daily laboratory functions including: processing diagnostic specimens, data entry, assisting pathologists on operating complex equipment and harvesting specific animal organs, maintenance of clean and safe laboratory spaces, laundry, sample management, and disposal of animal and laboratory biohazardous waste.

The lab supervisor will work closely with the Receiving/Necropsy Manager to assist with initial and ongoing training of technicians and student workers, delegating daily tasks to technicians and student workers, maintaining inventory of lab supplies, ensuring quality of service to internal/external clients, maintaining laboratory equipment and all other duties assigned by the lab manager or section head. Regular working hours will be 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Four years of customer service, technical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's

    Animal Science, Biology, Ecology, Zoology or related disciplines

  • 3-5 years’ experience in animal diagnostics or related setting. Supervising experience. General knowledge of mammalian anatomy and ability to recognize major organs and tissues.
