The College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) at Oklahoma State University is pleased to invite applications for Manager of CEAT’s Tulsa Campus Labs (TCL).
The TCL Manager is responsible for serving the instructional needs in design and manufacturing for multiple departments throughout CEAT. They will provide training and instruction to students in the operation, modification, and installation of lab equipment; coordinate, supervise, and enforce the TCL safety program, including OSHA and safety rules together with OSU, CEAT Learning Labs (CLL), and TCL policies and procedures; advise and mentor students with fabrication activities, and provide professional engineering advice and assistance in collaboration with the appropriate faculty.
The manager will train and supervise all TCL staff, and oversee the operation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of all lab equipment, instrumentation, and tools, including CNC and regular milling machines, CNC and regular lathes, welding equipment, and a variety of mechanical and electromechanical equipment. Additionally, the manager will monitor and assign special work areas to students as requested by faculty. When the need arises, the manager will design, engineer, and oversee the fabrication of specialized instructional, mechanical, and electronic equipment and instrumentation.
The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of engineering and engineering technology education, demonstrated by both formal education and practice, together with adherence to OSHA safety rules and regulations and experience with all types of machine and hand tools.
Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)Three years of related experience.
Driver's License
Must have solid hands-on experience in a design, manufacturing, or lab environment. Proven ability to operate and maintain manual and CNC machines.
In addition, ability is required to effectively communicate in the English language, orally and in writing, with all OSU students, faculty and employees; suppliers; contractors; citizens; and other state, national, and international contacts.
Must have ability to effectively teach engineering and engineering technology students, using sound engineering principles, in lab and shop environments. Must be able to interact effectively with TCL faculty and to advise and assist them in all engineering and engineering technology instruction using lab or shop facilities at the TCL and CEAT Learning Labs.
Good planning and managing skills essential. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple job assignments simultaneously, with high productivity. Must be organized in work habits and in appearance of work space.
Must have very good interpersonal skills working with students, faculty, staff, supervisors, all levels of OSU employees, and the public. A positive, cooperative, service-oriented attitude is essential. Demonstrated initiative in handling a wide variety of job-related problems, with a proactive work ethic, taking appropriate action in the absence of specific direction from faculty or supervisors. Dependability and trustworthiness required in all work-related functions.
Supervisory experience is desirable.
