About this Position

The objective of this small animal internship program is to provide extensive clinical training in preparation for a subsequent residency in emergency and critical care. This internship includes rotating assignments primarily in emergency and critical care medicine. In addition, elective rotations are available in medicine, surgery and anesthesiology. The intern will be under the supervision of two ECC specialists. Duties of the intern will include provision of primary and secondary care of patients in the intensive care unit; provision of emergency services outside of normal hospital hours including evenings, overnight, weekend and holiday shifts; involvement in daily case rounds, weekly house officer rounds, and weekly seminars; preparing and giving a hospital wide seminar twice during the internship; and instruction of third- and fourth-year veterinary students. Interns are encouraged to prepare a manuscript for publication in a clinical or scientific journal.

Required Qualifications

  • D.V.M. degree or equivalent (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Eligibility for faculty licensure in Oklahoma is required.
  • Experience in private practice or a prior internship experience is preferable.

The ability to build meaningful professional relationships and to contribute to a friendly, welcoming and enjoyable working environment is highly regarded at OSU-CVM. Private practice or prior internship preferred
