About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

This position will facilitate learning for an Associate in Applied Science degree in the John Deere Technologies program within the School of Transportation and Heavy Equipment.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate degree in a field of study consistent with the teaching assignment, including John Deere, Diesel Technologies, Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technologies, Mechatronics, or a related field of study, as determined by program- or course-level material.
  • Other combinations of education and industry experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable professional industry experience; service manager experience preferred.
  • Teaching or technical training experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with various constituencies.
  • Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Licensure/Certification:

  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • John Deere Instructor/Trainer certification preferred. Must meet the minimum faculty credentials required by the AED Education Foundation for all accredited programs.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical and electronic systems, power trains, diagnostics, precision/agricultural technology, failure analysis, and related John Deere equipment systems.
  • Ability to plan, organize and fulfill complex initiatives.
  • Computer skills to include electronic communications, word processing, and the ability to use specific software associated with the position are necessary.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of work, initiative, commitment, ethics, professional responsibility and judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively with and promote varied populations.
  • Superior interpersonal skills—including the ability to effectively recognize and resolve complex problems in a constructive manner.
  • Must exhibit characteristics of a team player, willing to take initiative and assume responsibility.  
  • Ability to foster and support innovation and excellence.

Communication Skills:

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Travel required.
  • Lab environment with exposure to automotive and heavy equipment.
  • Normal classroom physical environment; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
