About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

This position will facilitate learning across the School of Technology, Arts, Sciences & Health (STASH) and the School of Engineering & Construction Technologies (SECT). The instructor will teach courses in engineering, design drafting, and mathematics and physics ranging from foundational to advanced levels. This position coordinates with program faculty and academic leadership in both schools and may teach related core courses as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics, physics, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Master’s and/or bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or design drafting with documented industry experience may be considered for the applied technology teaching assignment only.

Experience:

  • Proven history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Three years of teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across multiple course levels, from developmental/foundational through advanced coursework.
  • Industry or applied experience in engineering, design drafting, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with CAD and industry-standard drafting/design software preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with various constituencies

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Licensure/Certification:

  • A valid Oklahoma driver's license will be required if performing the functions of the position requires the use of a personal or university vehicle.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, design drafting practices, and mathematics and physics content spanning foundational through advanced instruction.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and deliver instruction within and across multiple schools with differing program requirements and student populations.
  • Must be a strong advocate for integrating technology into the delivery of instruction.
  • Computer skills to include electronic communications, word processing, learning management systems, and discipline-specific software associated with the position.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of work, initiative, commitment, ethics, professional responsibility, and judgment.
  • Must exhibit characteristics of a team player, willing to take initiative and assume responsibility.
  • Ability to foster and support innovation and excellence.

Communication Skills:

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and human relations.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and resolve conflicts as necessary.
  • Instruction may consist of day and/or night classes, or distance learning.
