About this Position

The HVAC I Technician is responsible for analyzing, maintaining mechanical, electrical, thermodynamic, and gas-fired systems across domestic, commercial, and athletic facilities. This role serves as a primary resource for HVAC-R systems, ensuring reliable operation of refrigeration, steam distribution, and condensation pumping systems. The technician performs preventative maintenance, log activity and parts in the maintenance tracking system. 

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • HVAC I - two years prior successful work experience In building trades or completion of post-secondary education in Mechanical HVAC

    HVAC II - three years prior successful work experience in HVAC; or completion of post-secondary education in Mechanical HVAC plus one year experience

    Lead HVAC - four years prior successful work experience in HVAC; or completion of post-secondary education in Mechanical HVAC plus two years' experience

    Experience in Electrical controls troubleshooting using manufacturer's schematics.

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Must obtain an EPA Universal Technician Certification card within one year of hire.

    Have and maintain after hire a valid driver's license. Certified EPA Refrigeration Usage Card within a year of hire

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Controls, motors and electrical schematic reading.

    Refrigeration repairs.

    Steam/condensate systems.

    Knowledge of refrigerants and use of refrigerant regulations. Knowledge of HVAC-R systems.

    Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical

    Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration. Food Service Equipment.

  • Three years' experience in the installation and repair of HVAC-R systems
