About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

This position is responsible for service and preventative maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment on the OSUIT campus.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Two year minimum of Journeyman level operation, maintenance and repair experience in HVAC/Refrigeration trade.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Journeyman’s license in HVAC as well as an EPA Refrigerant Handler’s license.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities simultaneously and work with minimal supervision in a highly self-motivated manner.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • With assistance, must be able to lift, transport, and move equipment and materials weighing several hundred pounds.
  • Must be proficient in standard practices of the HVAC/Refrigeration trade, including but not limited to the knowledge of applicable building codes, ordinances and regulations pertaining to HVAC, refrigeration and boilers; operation of air compressors and pneumatic controls; cooling tower and boiler water treatment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of health and safety regulations, including proper storage methods of equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Proficient in the materials, methods and tools used in the operation and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Knowledge of welding and soldering techniques.
  • Position requires that employee be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, reach, and have use of all limbs.

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read and write and follow directives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.
