About this Position
Performs semi-skilled duties required to maintain University grounds. Includes: mowing, weed eating, watering, planting, picking up trash, general clean-up of facilities, and other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
6 months’ responsible work experience.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid driver’s license.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Ability to read and interpret routine written or printed materials such as labels on chemicals (mix chemicals), basic charts, diagrams or instruction material for equipment.
Ability to effectively use maintenance, garden and hand tools, sprayers, etc.
Ability to follow and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
One year responsible work experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Operates power equipment used in the maintenance of grounds.
Follows and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Sweeps, picks up and maintains appearance of grounds, curbs and walkways.
Prunes and trims trees and shrubs.
Waters lawns, garden beds and shrubs.
Performs snow and ice removal, as needed.
Applies pesticides and fertilizers.
Performs routine maintenance on grounds equipment.
Completes all mandatory training and participated in a minimum of two professional development each year.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Must present a clean, professional uniform appearance while maintaining normal and acceptable standards of personal hygiene.
Protective mask, and other impervious Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required as the situation dictates.
Able to work in all types of weather.
Physical Requirements:
Extensive standing and/or walking; Occasional bending/stooping, squatting/ crouching and pushing/pulling.
Exposure to various chemicals including fertilizer and herbicide.
Requires ability and adequate dexterity to operate tools and equipment required for job. Repetitive movement of hand/wrist.
Requires substantial strength and stamina.
Manual dexterity/visual ability to operate motor vehicle, computer and radio.
Physical and mental stamina to perform the essential job functions.
May need to lift up to 45 pounds. If an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift.
