About this Position

The Facilities Manager for the Office of the Vice President for Research plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the strategic operation, maintenance, and long-term development of some of Oklahoma State University’s most vital research and animal resources facilities, including the Henry Bellmon Research Center, Venture One, the Mike Morgan Building, and multiple specialized Animal Resources buildings. This position drives both day-to-day facility excellence and forward-thinking capital planning, ensuring that spaces remain safe, efficient, compliant with federal regulations, and fully equipped to support cutting-edge research initiatives. From leading major renovation and construction projects to managing infrastructure systems, vendor partnerships, safety compliance, and budget planning, the Facilities Manager serves as the central force behind creating high-performing environments that advance innovation, research growth, and institutional success across the division.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED Construction Management, Facility Management or related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • High School graduate/GED with seven years of prior successful work experience in building maintenance/construction organization or department.  Education may be used in lieu of experience.  As a general guideline, 1 year of full-time experience equals 1 year of post-secondary education, so candidates with a Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience would meet the minimum requirement.

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Must be eligible for employment in areas governed by the U.S. Patriot Act and the Public Health and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, 42 CFR 73, 7 CFR 331, and 9 CFR 121. Consequently, the individual hired for this position must successfully complete a Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation (DOJ/FBI) security risk assessment as well as the background check.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Proficient in written and verbal communication 

    Working knowledge of industry standards specific to construction, state, federal and OSHA requirements 

    Ability to multitask

    Must be able to work in cramped spaces, on ladders, and around animals. Must be able to lift loads in excess of 75 pounds. Must be able to work overhead and below waist level of long periods of time. Employee must enroll in the university's Occupational Health and Safety Program. Employee must enroll in the university's Respiratory Protection Program and receive medical clearance to wear/use respiratory protection and personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's
  • Seven years of facilities management experience to include: facility space forecasting, planning, expansion, RPT process, project management and supervisory experience

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Certification by the National Board of Refrigeration Service Engineers Society as a Commercial Air-Conditioning Specialist or Mechanical Contractor's License with the Oklahoma State Department of Construction Industries.
