About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

The Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for initiatives that advance excellence in teaching, learning, and instructional technology across the institution. The Director manages the university’s Learning Management System (LMS) and related academic technologies, ensuring effective system administration, faculty training, and integration with institutional systems. This position promotes pedagogical innovation, instructional quality, and professional development to enhance student learning outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university required.
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in Instructional Technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience administering a Learning Management System in higher education (e.g., Brightspace D2L, Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle).
  • Minimum of five years’ teaching experience in higher education (e.g. full-time, part-time).
  • Strong background in instructional technologies, adult learning, and online education.
  • Experience in curriculum design and development.
  • Demonstrated record of ethical and professional conduct.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certifications (e.g. Quality Matters, Accessibility, Information Security, Online Teaching, etc.)
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license will be required if performing the functions of the position requires the use of a personal or university vehicle.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in educational technologies and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to apply learning theory and methodologies to face-to-face and distance learning environments.
  • Ability to lead and inspire faculty and staff to achieve academic excellence.
  • Ability to make appropriate recommendations based on logical and justifiable reasoning.
  • Strong proficiency in organization and planning.
  • Proactive in adopting new technologies and instructional methods.
  • High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
  • Customer focused with an ability to work and respond effectively to varied audiences of internal and external clients. 
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSUIT and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.

Communication Skills:

  • Must be proficient in information technology mediums to include word processing, database, spreadsheets, and specialized software packages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all faculty, staff and various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in Instructional Technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university preferred.
