Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor, Nursing

POSITION: The Nursing Program within Oklahoma State University’s College of Education and Human Sciences is seeking applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor at the main campus in Stillwater starting August 2026.  The successful applicant will join a collaborative team of faculty who work with and mentor our undergraduate nursing students.  We are interested in scholars who have experience and interest in working with interdisciplinary teams of health professionals on educational projects. This position requires a commitment to delivering a high-quality learning experience for nursing students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. The position requires an experienced nurse clinician and nurse educator who holds a registered nursing license in the state of Oklahoma. This individual shall possess at least a master’s degree in nursing. This individual is expected to complete instruction-related duties and responsibilities promptly and in accordance with the mission and policies of the university, college, and program. The candidate must be willing to teach courses in a variety of delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online) as needed, with potential of some evening and/or weekend hours. Participation in program meetings, committees, and other service activities is expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Service Responsibilities

Perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in conformity with the mission, policies and procedures of the program, college, university, and accrediting agencies;

Evaluate and document student assignments, learning, skills, and abilities promptly;

Serve as a resource person in areas of expertise and to other faculty and personnel of the community;

Act as advisor to nursing students for the promotion of excellence in academic and clinical practice;

Serve the university, college, and program, including committee work as appropriate;

Adhere to all policies within Oklahoma State University as well as program-specific policies;

Participate in university activities and professional organizations as a member;

Aid in completion of the program assessments and accreditation requirements;

Serve in student recruiting and retention efforts for the program;

Participate in curriculum implementation, revision, and evaluation;

Participate in professional development commensurate with program needs;

Other duties as assigned.

Clinical Responsibilities

Assist in arranging orientation periods and clinical schedule for each rotation;

Be on-site and provide supervision and evaluation of students during clinical experiences;

Communicate with facility staff regarding student competencies, responsibilities, and performance;

Assign patients for student delivery of nursing care;

Evaluate clinical sites;

Collaborate with other faculty to ensure student performance is satisfactory and experiences are appropriate;

Provide timely feedback to students;

Adhere to policies of the university, program, and facility regarding clinical experiences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

For Clinical Instructor position, earned Master's degree in Nursing;

For Clinical Assistant Professor position, terminal degree in Nursing;

Unencumbered Oklahoma RN license or multi-state compact;

Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

Sufficient physical health and mobility to instruct students in various clinical and laboratory settings;

Ability to meet clinical agency immunization requirements and keep current with clinical facility requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful undergraduate teaching experience;

Experience with simulated learning environments;

Proficiency with current online education software and delivery methods.
