Title: Clinical Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology
Start Date: August 2026
Type: Career Track (Clinical Faculty)
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Oklahoma State University seeks applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology with a start date of August 2026. Clinical interests should include adult communication and swallowing disorders. This is a non-tenure track position with an initial contract of 3 years. Reappointments and promotions will be based on performance and availability of funding.
The Clinical Assistant Professor will play a vital role in our clinical education program by directly supervising 15-18 senior clinicians and graduate students each semester at the OSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. This individual will provide hands-on observation and feedback during evaluations and therapy sessions involving adult clients with a range of cognitive-communication disorders including aphasia, dementia, dysphagia, dysarthrias (including Parkinson’s disease), voice/ resonance disorders, or other neurodegenerative diseases. Given that our clinic bills insurance for its services, the Clinical Assistant Professor will also guide students in preparing the necessary documentation to ensure compliance and reimbursement. The individual will meet with each student on a weekly basis to review clinical performance, provide mentorship, and ensure continued growth and competence in clinical skills. As needed, the individual may be assigned classes in their area(s) of expertise to fulfill their workload obligations. The Clinical Assistant Professor will also contribute to the department’s shared governance and service missions by actively participating in committee work and engaging with professional organizations.
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CDIS) at Oklahoma State University is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The department offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Speech-Language Pathology, and a post-baccalaureate Certificate program. Collectively, our programs enroll approximately 300 students annually, preparing them for a wide range of careers in clinical and research settings. Our department is distinguished by its strong integration of academic coursework with supervised clinical experience. The OSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, housed within the department, serves as a key site for clinical education and community service. We provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to individuals across the lifespan, from toddlers with speech delays to adults with complex neurogenic conditions.
The CDIS faculty includes five tenure-track faculty members whose research interests span voice disorders, fluency, child language, treatment intensity, and neurogenic communication disorders. The clinical faculty team comprises dedicated professionals and a clinic manager who facilitate immersive training in real-world clinical scenarios. Our department is also deeply engaged with the community, offering outreach services, conducting screenings, and maintaining collaborative partnerships with local schools, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. We are proud to contribute to OSU’s land-grant mission by combining cutting-edge research, high-quality education, and community engagement.
