About this Position
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Catering Associate is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient catering service during events and functions. Their duties involve a wide range of tasks, from preparing and setting up for events to assisting in the Student Union cafeteria to provide meals to students, employees and the public; and providing catering services for on and off campus functions.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- Evidence of a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
- Previous experience working in the food industry.
- Previous customer service experience.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required if driving a personal or university vehicle for university business.
- Must maintain a Food Handler’s permit.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner while addressing concerns effectively.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper setup and breakdown of events.
- Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and temperature control of food.
- The ability to read and comprehend both written and verbal instructions.
- Must be customer-service oriented.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to multi-task and assist in any area necessary.
- Ability to resolve problems.
Communication Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, co-workers and other campus personnel.
- Ability to communicate with a positive attitude.
- Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.
