About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Responsible for performing cashiering duties as related to the Bursar’s office including but not limited to receiving deposits from on-campus departments and posting payments to accounts using Banner and TouchNet software.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • One to two years of work experience in accounting, cashiering, collections, banking or other related discipline.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license will be required if job duties include the use of a personal or university vehicle to conduct university business.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Ability to safeguard privacy and confidentiality of information accessible in the Bursar Office.
  • Must be able to interact comfortably and effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • A positive “can-do” attitude along with a professional appearance and demeanor should be modeled at all times. 
  • Must have a willingness to continually self-initiate learning to remain proficient.  Should be able to quickly grasp and apply new skills and methods.
  • Must be customer service motivated with ability to work and respond effectively to varied audiences of internal and external clients. 
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be flexible, innovative and self-motivated. 

Communication Skills:

  • Strong verbal communication skills to include individual interaction and group directives.
  • Proficient problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written communication and listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.
