About this Position
Must be willing to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months. Drive an ADA Transit, Para-transit, or Motor-coach bus on campus, city streets, and state-mandated highways. Safely transport University students, staff/faculty, and the general public on a fixed scheduled bus route, on-demand response, or tour services. Must operate ADA equipment manually as needed. Perform a prescribed pre-operational safety maintenance check. Accumulate and record statistics for the daily report. Perform all other responsibilities as assigned. Must be at least 18 years of age or older and able to stoop, bend, or kneel to secure wheelchairs to fulfill ADA requirements, and if necessary, manually operate the ADA equipment. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
This is a safety-sensitive position and, as required by USDOT, "Safety-Sensitive employees must meet the requirements of 49 CFR Part 40 (Drug and Alcohol Regulations)"
Required Qualifications
High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Valid driver's license at the time of hire.
Must have or obtain within 6 months of hire, a Class B Commercial license with “P” endorsement and no air brake restriction. The cost of training for the license will be covered by the department initially; however, it may be subject to reimbursement if the candidate leaves the position within one or two years of training completion.
Must be 18 years or older.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Must be able to stoop, bend, or kneel for ADA wheelchair securement and lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to operate ADA equipment manually as needed.
