Assistant Professor of Professional Practice of Construction Engineering Technology

The School of Fire, Construction and Emergency Management at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Professional Practice. This is a non-tenure-track faculty position with the opportunity to advance in rank as a Professor of Practice in Construction Engineering Technology (CET). The preferred successful candidate should have the ability and desire to teach CET undergraduate courses in three or more of the following areas: Heavy/Highway Construction and Estimating; Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing; Construction Equipment; Technology Applications in Construction; Site Development; Construction Contracts Law & Insurance; and/or a wide variety of general construction courses. Individuals with training and skills that complement and augment existing faculty expertise and have an interest in collaborative work are particularly attractive.

The School of Fire, Construction and Emergency Management is housed within the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT). It is currently comprised of two undergraduate programs in Construction Engineering Technology (CET) and Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology (FPSET). The school also houses three graduate programs: a MSET in Fire, Safety and Explosion Protection and an MS and PhD in Fire and Emergency Management Administration (FEMP).

Oklahoma State University was established in 1890 as a comprehensive land-grant university. With about 23,000 students on its Stillwater, Oklahoma, campus, the university has a strong national presence. Stillwater is a college town with an excellent environment for education of children and family life. Two major cities including Oklahoma City and Tulsa are within the distance of 70 minutes of driving.

Qualifications: A minimum of five years relevant U.S. construction industry experience and a master's degree in Construction Engineering, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or related field are required. Excellent communication and organizational skills and a high level of motivation are required. Professional registration, teaching at the university level, and doctorate degree are preferred.
