Assistant Professor of Animal Reproduction

The Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Oklahoma State University invites applications for an 11-month tenure-track position (60% Extension and 40% research) in animal reproduction at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position carries the expectation of excellence in Extension and applied research commensurate with the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University.
Position Description
The successful candidate will develop and lead a nationally recognized, impactful Extension program addressing reproductive management challenges in livestock production systems, while establishing an externally funded, applied research program that informs and complements Extension programming. This person is expected to (a) deliver programming through county educator trainings, workshops, field days, hands-on trainings, webinars, and one-on-one producer consultations; (b) develop peer-reviewed educational resources such as Extension publications, fact sheets, decision-support tools, and digital and social media content to disseminate to county educators, producers, agribusiness professionals, and allied industry stakeholders; (c) build and maintain strong working relationships with county/regional Extension educators, producer organizations, breed and livestock associations, and agricultural industry partners; (d) establish an innovative, applied research program in animal reproduction that addresses priority challenges of the state's livestock industries and complements Extension programming; and (e) publish research findings in appropriate scientific journals, and (f) secure extramural funding from industry, federal agencies, or other granting sources, to support Extension programming efforts, research activities, and graduate student training.
Qualifications
Requirements include a Ph.D. in Animal Science or a closely related field. Documented interest, experience and appreciation of production agriculture are required, along with a demonstrated knowledge of livestock reproductive physiology and management. Applicants must be committed to both Extension and research and qualify for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to individuals with excellent written and oral communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in teams and assume leadership roles.
Employment Conditions
This position is to be filled by January 1, 2027, or as soon as a suitable candidate is identified. The position is an 11-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive and based on qualifications and experience. Retirement and long-term disability, medical, dental and life insurance programs are available to employees. Continuation of this position is subject to performance, needs, and available funding.

The Department of Animal and Food Sciences has over 1230 undergraduate students, 48 M.S. and Ph.D. students, and 33 faculty. The department is home to nine undergraduate student organizations and seven competitive undergraduate judging teams.
